The Degree Assembly Board of Governors (DABOG) consists of eleven members. Ten members are elected from Degree Assembly represented entities. One member is elected from the general public to serve as the Public Board Member. The functions of the Degree Assembly Board of Governors are to:

  • Carry out policies established by the Degree Assembly.
  • Provide suggested policy statements and administrative guidelines to the Degree Assembly for approval in addition to those provided by the Degree Assembly.
  • Encourage the professional and educational development of fire and emergency services.
  • Clarify policy established by the Degree Assembly
  • Review appeals.
  • Meet at least semi-annually immediately prior to the Degree Assembly meeting.
  • Establish a forum and dialogue between accredited entities that will encourage cooperation.
  • Ensure that the program accreditation process is done on a valid and credible basis.
  • Act upon all accreditation applications.

The Certificate Assembly Board of Governors (CABOG) consists of eleven members elected from Certificate Assembly represented entities and one member elected from the general public.

The functions of the Certificate Assembly Board of Governors are to:

  • Carry out policies established by the Certificate Assembly.
  • Provide suggested policy statements and administrative guidelines to the Assembly for approval in addition to those provided by the Assembly.
  • Encourage the professional development of the fire and emergency services internationally.
  • Clarify policy established by the Certificate Assembly.
  • Review appeals.
  • Meet semi-annually, immediately prior to the Certificate Assembly meeting.
  • Establish a forum and dialogue between accredited entities that will encourage reciprocity between entities.
  • Ensure certification is done on a valid and credible basis.
  • Act upon all accreditation applications.
  • Act on recommendations of the Assembly committees.

The IFSAC Council of Governors (COG) consists of eleven members with three members elected from each assembly of IFSAC, the public member from each board, the chair of each board, and one member of the Administration Office serving as facilitator/chair. The responsibilities of the Council of Governors are to:

  • Work with the Congress on issues of linkage between assemblies.
  • Deal with issues that are common to the Certificate Assembly and the Degree Assembly.
  • Recommend resolutions to the Congress to resolve disputes between the Certificate Assembly and the Degree Assembly.
  • Work with Oklahoma State University on employee issues with regard to hiring, termination, promotion, pay increases, and performance evaluations.
  • Approve and provide oversight of the budget.
  • Provide direction and assistance to IFSAC Administration.
