As IFSAC Administration works together with the Council of Governors (COG), Certificate Assembly Board of Governors (CABOG), and Degree Assembly Board of Governors (DABOG) to innovate how we move the organization forward while adhering to the guidance of health officials during the pandemic, the following updates are provided to keep you informed.
Accreditation Site Visits - Certificate Assembly
All site visits for certifying entities and degree programs through June 30, 2020, have been postponed until further notice. IFSAC Administration will be working directly with each entity and program on the rescheduling process. All site visits after July 1, 2020, will be scheduled with consideration of current COVID-19 precautions and restrictions on a case-by-case basis.
Accreditation Site Visits - Degree Assembly
The Degree Assembly passed a tmeporary policy at the 2020 Fall Meeting to allow for virtual site visits to be confucted during the allowed flexibilities of the Department of Education/Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Administration will be working directly with each entity that is eligible to conduct a virtual site visit on scheduling.
IFSAC 2021 Spring Meeting
The International Fire Service Accreditation Congress 2021 spring training and meetings is tentatively scheduled to be an in-person event held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA, April 7 - 10, 2021. All activities will take place at the Embassy Suites Hotel by Hilton Oklahoma City Northwest, 3233 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Please note that this is not the same hotel as used in previous years.
While we cannot yet predict when in-person meetings will resume, you can rest assured that we will notify our members as soon as we can. The Council of Governors along with Administration will be monitoring the situation and make a decision early February.

This position is an elected position to the IFSAC Degree Assembly Board of Governors. The IFSAC Degree Assembly is a peer driven, self-governing system that accredits higher education fire and emergency service degree related programs. Requirements for service by an individual desiring to be considered for the Public Board Member are: they will have a good understanding of accreditation, higher educational processes, and emergency services. Additional qualities are: knowledge of the NFPA standards, a desire to serve as a consumer advocate, to represent and protect the public interest, and be involved in the accreditation process for fairness and reasonable action.
Service on the Board requires a commitment of time, therefore you should be available to travel to both the Spring and Fall Meetings of IFSAC. The Public Board Member will not receive remuneration for their services. Once elected to the position, IFSAC Administration may reimburse the Public Board Member for reasonable expenses for their attendance at meetings of the Board. This position is elected to a three (3) year term by the IFSAC Degree Assembly.

Applications for nomination must be received no later than 4:00 PM Central Time on Friday, March 5, 2021.
Please note the Applications for Nomination will be sent to the IFSAC Degree Assembly members for review, so all information provided by the applicant will become publicly available.
