The Certificate Assembly Board of Governors (CABOG) consists of eleven members elected from Certificate Assembly represented entities and one member elected from the general public.

The functions of the Certificate Assembly Board of Governors are to:

  • Carry out policies established by the Certificate Assembly.
  • Provide suggested policy statements and administrative guidelines to the Assembly for approval in addition to those provided by the Assembly.
  • Encourage the professional development of the fire and emergency services internationally.
  • Clarify policy established by the Certificate Assembly.
  • Review appeals.
  • Meet semi-annually, immediately prior to the Certificate Assembly meeting.
  • Establish a forum and dialogue between accredited entities that will encourage reciprocity between entities.
  • Ensure certification is done on a valid and credible basis.
  • Act upon all accreditation applications.
  • Act on recommendations of the Assembly committees.
